In terms of landscape, this area, which is now a nature reserve for Esbjerg and Varde, is very speciel and a very valuable asset. The varied terrain offers good opportunities for many different kinds of outdoor activity. Marbæk is part of the Wadden Sea National Park.
Marbækgaard with a restaurant and mini golf, lies to the north of the artificial lake area and the bird sanctuary. The lakes were formed between 1972 and 1979 and cover 50 acres. South of this area lies the "Scout Island" with a number of huts, and on Sjelborg beach is to be found the restaurant Rødhætte. In the area are paths for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
Folder of the area is available in Esbjerg Visitors Centre.
